Mysterio ate at Fu Hua City
Newly opened store just a stone throw away from beauty world MRT where they currently have a promotion for smoke duck rice for just $1. This promotion is a while stock last promotion and mysterio has no idea how long it will last as no additional information is available.
Moving on, a picture of store as well as the menu and items Fu Hua City sells. They have quite a variety of options available.
A closer look at the other items available.
Mysterio is at a loss of what is good from this newly opened store, but from the looks at all the roasted duck, char siew and roasted pork there, this had to be their best selling option. As a result, Mysterio ordered their signature dish:
-> Mala Special Noodle priced at $5
First look:
Their signature Mala Special Noodle has a good mix of ingredients which includes :
- Char Siew
- Roast Pork belly
- Sausage
Moving onto the taste:
Their sausage looks more like taiwan sausage however, their texture is totally different. Instead its more similar to those dried chinese sausage where it is harder to bite. In terms of the taste, it isn't too oily with similar taste to chinese sausage. As for the texture, it is chewy and a bit harder to bite through.
As for their roasted pork belly, there is quite a reasonable proportion of meat to fats ratio. This gives it the ooze in pork fats flavor as well as meat. In addition, the skin of this roasted pork belly is the highlight. It is very crispy when mysterio bites into it. Mysterio thought that it would have become soggy as it was a take away food, but to Mysterio surprise, it is still relatively crispy, paired with the fattiness of the pork belly, it is mind blowing.
For the last ingredient, the char siew. Just a look at this char siew (Roasted lean pork), you can see the glistening of the pork fats. When Mysterio first took a bite into this char siew, the WOW just flew out. This ingredient is probably the best out of all the ingredient in this dish. Not only is the char siew soft and tender, it is also very tasty. Mysterio is totally amazed and blown away by this and literally nothing can describe this.
Now for the highlight of this dish, the mala noodle. The noodle for this is very Q and springy, it has a chewy texture to it and the noodle quality is quite good. It doesnt have the weird noodle taste. As for the mala, this is actually more like Mala Xiang Guo flavor, but rest assured that this is only small spiciness level only. when mixed, it goes well but in Mysterio's opinion, it is slighly salty.
Verdict:
Mysterio rates it 4.5/5 stars
Overall, Mala Special Noodle is definitely a worthy buy with exception taste and value for money. The only downside of this dish is the dried sausage that comes with it. It is slightly harder than expected. However, the tasty Char Siew and the Crispy Roasted pork belly definitely makes up for it. Not to mention the mala noodle is also a surprisingly good.
